Famous Last Words

If you were Abigail Adams, what would you have to say for yourself? What about if you were Martha Washington, Molly Pitcher, Crispus Attucks, or Peter Salem? Here's what the kids thought they would say...

Carissa and Hailey- Peter Salem

Alyssa and Bryson- Peter Salem

Lauren and Kaden- Molly Pitcher

Izabella- Molly Pitcher

Caroline, Emma Kate, and Evan- Molly Pitcher
Kayley and Cameron- Martha Washington
Brayson and Matthias- Crispus Attucks

Building Circuits

This science activity we did was really fun. It was about electricity. The materials we needed were two wires, a light bulb, and a d cell battery. If you want you can have a battery holder and/or a light bulb holder. I used a light bulb holder. What you do is stick the light bulb in the holder, you stick the end of one wire under the light bulb. Then you stick the end of another wire under the light bulb, screw the light bulb in. Take the wires[ HOLD IT BY THE RUBBER] put one wire on one side of the metal battery holder and put the other wire on the metal part on the other side. Presto! Your light bulb should light up.

Making Kaleidoscopes!

A Kaleidoscope Experiment

My class did an experiment with a kaleidoscope. We made our kaleidoscope out of three small mirrors and two small different colored pieces of paper and clear tape. If you look in it at different angles you can see more than one of the papers. When light hits one mirror it just reflects. My prediction was that the light would reflect and I could see cool designs. My prediction wasn’t exactly right but it was half way right. I think this experiment was very fun and exciting. Everyone should try to make a kaleidoscope!

In science we made a kaleidoscope. We got three mirrors and taped them into a triangle. Next we got waxed paper and cut a triangle out of the paper. Then we taped the paper triangle to the mirror triangle. Next we cut out little pieces of paper and put them into the mirror triangle. I saw a ton of little pieces of colored paper. This happened when white light hit one mirror it reflected to another mirror and to another.

In our class we made a kaleidoscope. We had 3 mirrors, tape, wax paper and construction paper.  We taped the 3 mirrors in a triangle, then we cut the construction paper into little pieces and put them in the kaleidoscope.  Before we put the paper in we traced the triangle and cut out the wax paper and taped it to the bottom.  The 3 mirrors reflected light and made the little pieces of paper either triple or double.

Adopt Diamond!

As part of our Promote a Pet project in our "Walk on the Wild Side" PBL, students created commercials to advertise our chosen pet. In order to do this, students had to first learn about the format of a script including the setting and stage directions, brainstorm ideas, and then write their script. Students also learned propaganda techniques and were encouraged to use one that may help convince others to adopt our pet. Students performed their commercials for the class, and we voted on the most persuasive commercial. Below is our winner! Please share with your friends and family, especially if they are looking for a sweet and adoptable dog like Diamond!

Happy Holidays!

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas break! We had such a fun time celebrating the holiday season at school. Here are some pictures and videos of our 4th grade Christmas program and our Christmas party. Enjoy!

BSHS Visitors

Before Christmas break, we had two high school students from BSHS come visit us. They read books with us and told us about their college and career goals.

Our high school reader was very nice. The first book she read to us was a book about a little girl who kept on asking and asking for a pink tree and at the end she got one  . This very nice young lady was a student council member. She was sixteen years old and very nice girl like I already said. The second book that she read was half but it was still good. It is a old classic called ‘twas the night before Christmas.
-Carissa

I learned that we read a Charlie Brown and we read Santa Goes  to the Carolinas. Jack is a good role model.  He does that by letting us read to him and a little bit of him reading to us. He was very patient and helped us if we were on a hard word to say. He is a helpful friend to all of us.
